MA33L -- INSULATED WIRE AND CABLE 1994 REVISED November 2, 1995 MA33L(94)-1 U.S. Department of Commerce Economics and Statistics Administration BUREAU OF THE CENSUS SUMMARY OF FINDINGS In 1994, the total value of manufactures' shipments of insulated wire and cable increased by 13 percent to $12,444 million from the 1993 level of $11,006. Electronic wire and cable increased by 20 percent to $2,348 million from the 1993 level of $1,949 million. Telephone and telegraph wire and cable decreased by 6 percent to $1,679 from the 1993 level of $1,785 million. In 1994, Power wire and cable increased by 18 percent to $1,541 from the 1993 level of $1,301 million. Control and signal wire and cable increased 22 percent to $257 million compared to the preceding year's figure of $211 million. Building wire and cable increased by 24 percent to $2,291 million from the 1993 level of $1,849 million. In 1994, apparatus wire and cordage increased by 2 percent to $983 million compared to $961 million in 1993. Other insulated wire and cable increased by 14 percent to $715 million compared to $625 million in 1993. Magnet wire also increased by 37 percent in 1994 to $1,213 million from the 1993 level of $884 million. Insualted optical fiber cable decreased by 2 percent to $1,417 million from $ 1,442 million in 1993. Optical fiber increased by 8 percent to $703 million compared to the $650 million in 1993.
