SURVEY METHODOLOGY-- The statistics in this publication are collected by mail on Bureau of the Census annual survey Form MA33A, Iron and Steel Castings. The survey panel consists of approximately 590 selected estab- lishments from a list of about 1,440 producers from the 1987 Census of Manufacturing universe. REVISIONS-Statistics for prior years may be revised as the result of corrected figures from respondents, late reports received for which imputations were originally made as described, or other corrections. Figures which have been revised by more than 5 percent from previously published figures are indicated by footnotes. HISTORICAL NOTE-Data on iron and steel castings have been collected by the Bureau of the Census since 1943. Historical data may be obtained from Current Industrial Reports (called Facts for Industry before 1959) available at your local Federal Depository Library. A list of these libraries may be obtained from the Bureau of Census regional offices. OBTAINING REPORTS-This report is available electronically through the Census-BEA Electronic Bulletin Board.
