CURRENT INDUSTRIAL REPORTS NONFERROUS CASTINGS - 1995 MA33E(95)-1 Issued August 29, 1996 Contact: Mary W. Ellickson, 301-457-4736 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS During 1995, the total shipments of nonferrous castings were 4,979 million pounds. This represented a 4 percent increase over the 1994 total shipments of 4,772 million pounds. Shipments of aluminum castings in 1995 totaled 3,182 million pounds, showing an 11 percent increase over the 1994 total of 2,878 million pounds. Shipments of copper castings totaled 909 million pounds in 1995, a 16 percent decrease from the 1994 total of 1,085 million pounds. The shipments of magnesium castings in 1995 totaled 60 million pounds, this represented a 1 percent decrease over the 1994 total of 61 million pounds. Shipments of zinc castings increased 7 percent during 1995 to 476 million pounds, as compared with the 1994 total of 447 million pounds. Shipments of lead castings during 1995 totaled 351 million pounds, this represented a 17 percent increase, when compared with the 1994 total of 301 million pounds. SPECIAL NOTE The 1995 estimates are based on reports from a representative sample of approximately 795 manufacturing establishments classified in the Nonferrous Castings industries. Estimates developed from the sample are likely to differ somewhat from the results of a survey covering all manufacturing companies, but otherwise conducted under essentially the same conditions as the actual sample survey. Prior year data are based on reports recieved from all known manufacturers classified in the Nonferrous industries. Table 1.
