Current Industrial Reports United States Department of Commerce Economic and Statistical Administration Bureau of the Census AEROSPACE INDUSTRY - SUMMARY 1996 (Combined report for the formerly MA37D, Aerospace Orders and M37G,Civil Aircraft and Engines) M37G(96)-13 Issued August 4, 1997 Scope of Survey - This survey covers all manufacturers of complete civil aircraft and civil aircraft engines in the United States. Parts sold separately are excluded. Also this survey covers establishments primarily engaged in development and/or manufacturer of aerospace products, including aircraft, aircraft engines, aircraft parts and accessories, missiles and space vehicle systems, missile and space vehicle engines or propulsion units, and parts and subassemblies of missiles and space vehicles. Survey Methodology - For the 1996 survey year, the statistics in this publication were collected by mail on Bureau of the Census monthly form M37G, Civil Aircraft and Aircraft Engines, and annual Forms M37G-A, Aerospace Industries Sales and Orders and M37G-S, Civil Aircraft and Aircraft Engines (formerly collected on Form MA37D). These data are also available through the U.S. Department of Commerce and STAT-USA Electronic Bulletin Board by subscription. To access, dial 202-482-3870 and follow the prompts to register; or call 202-482-1986, for further information. Address inquiries concerning these data to U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, Manufacturing and Construction Division, Washington, DC 20233, or call Chris Savage, 301-457-1307. Note: Net new orders represent new orders received during the year less terminations during the year. In some cases current backlog will not equal the backlog for the previous period, plus current net new orders, minus current shipments. This is primarily due to respondents changing their accounting procedures from one year to the next. The data for these respondents was not change to force a balance. Significant imbalances due to reporting errors were investigated and corrected. Detail items may not add to total because of independent rounding. Table 9. Note: Net new orders represent new orders received during the year less terminations during the year. In some cases current backlog will not equal the backlog for the previous period, plus current net new orders, minus current shipments. This is primarily due to respondents changing their accounting procedures from one year to the next. The data for these respondents was not changed to force a balance. Significant imbalances due to reporting errors were investigated and corrected. Detail items may not add to total because of independent rounding. 36 8,535 Other custome
