SUMMARY OF FINDINGS - Total quantity of shipments of confectionery products (excluding chewing gum, bubble gum, and chewing gum base) for 1996 was 6,286.1 million pounds, compared to 6,065.2 million pounds in 1995, an increase of 3.6 percent. Total value of shipments of confectionery products (excluding chewing gum. bubble gum, and chewing gum base) for 1996 $12,079.1 million compared to $11,535.3 million in 1995, an increase of 4.7 percent. The quantity of chocolate and chocolate type confectionery shipped increased 2.6 percent, while the quantity of nonchocolate type confectionery increased by 5.1 percent. The value of chocolate type confectionery shipped increased 5.3 percent, while the value of nonchocolate type confectionery increased 3.8 percent. TABLE 1A.
