CURRENT INDUSTRIAL REPORT CONFECTIONERY, 1993 MA20D(93)-1 Contact: John Millier, 301-763-7837 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS For 1993, this report added the category for chewing gum, bubble gum, and chewing gum base. This addition has created a new table (Table 1A). Table 1B is comparable to what was published in prior years as Table 1. Total quantity of shipments of confectionery products (excluding chewing gum, bubble gum, and chewing gum base) for 1993 was 5,619.3 million pounds, compared to 5,386.5 million pounds in 1992, an increase of 4.3 percent. Total value of shipments of confectionery products (excluding chewing gum, bubble gum, and chewing gum base) for 1993 was $10,755.6 million, compared to $10,428.5 million in 1992, an increase of 3.1 percent. The quantity of chocolate and chocolate type confectionery shipped increased 4.5 percent, while the quantity of nonchocolate type confectionery increased by 4.1 percent. The value of chocolate and chocolate type confectionery shipped increased 2.1 percent, while the value of nonchocolate type confectionery increased 5.2 percent. TABLE 1A.
