At the 48th New England Circle, Dick Thornburgh, ex-governor of Pennsylvania, tried out his new professorial spurs as the new head of Harvard University's Kennedy Institute of Politics. Under serious consideration as the Republican Vice Presidential nominee, he talked firsthand about the perils of politics. "Be prepared and expect the unexpected," he lectured.
