Abstract

Description

Caroline Stone uses texturizing methods in her color etchings that give the simple forms used to create her landscapes heightened potency. The artist greatly admires and is inspired by the ancient Chinese landscape painters and the French Impressionists. She feels their meditative and luminous works mirror her own powerful emotions toward the serenity and safety of nature. Stone says, “My work stems from the conviction that there exists in life a transcendent dimension that I feel I can best express through landscape." Stone studied at The Pratt Graphics Center and The Art Students League, both in New York, NY. The artist has shown in exhibitions at The Mary Ryan Gallery and The Katonah Gallery, both in New York, NY. Stone’s work is extensively collected in public, private, and corporate collections such as The Art Insitute of Chicago, Chase Manhattan, Mellon Bank, and PepsiCo.
