Abstract
Genealogy is essentially history through an anthropological lens. However, the online community is flooded with instances of inaccurate information. Often, this information comes from previously published family histories. These older publications frequently have frequently misinterpreted the facts and published materials that fail to trace female lines of descendants. This project aims to address these issues for a selection of early Connecticut colonists. Pequot Plantation is the first name for the settlement that became New London County, Connecticut. The settlement was unusual for the highly puritan New England and some of these unique factors have contributed to the long-term survival of the settlement. Descendants of these colonists have spread throughout Connecticut and beyond.
