Abstract
“Women With A Will to Win!: The British and American Women of WWII” exhibit was created to fill in historical gaps and give patrons a better understanding of women's experiences in the United States and Great Britain during World War II. The display provides information and artifacts that help patrons understand how society reacted to the war and how some misogynistic and outdated ideals had come about during this period. This project's primary focus is to understand the similarities and differences between British and American women's experiences during World War II. The goal is to understand the similarities differences between gender roles in these different societies before, during, and after the war. This topic allowed me to focus my research on understanding the other roles women played in the war and the occupations they were able to obtain. Also, I could focus on how the understanding and guardedness of a woman's sexuality, and their ability to remain innocuous had changed. Lastly, this research is created with the intentions of building knowledge and awareness about the creation of certain misogynistic ideals and gender stereotypes that plague society still in today's society.
