Regarding Wrench typology, Zlantanovski states " This body of work is inspired by archeologist typologies of prehistoric stone tools. Ancestors of modern humans created the earliest tools by grinding or chopping stones. Over two million years ago the first patented wrench was granted to Solomon Merrick in 1835.
